BRIEF REVIEW OF HEALED HEARTS Foundation.

Vision: Changing an orphan, helpless and abandoned child’s future through the love of God and bringing them in to a home where they may get their holistic need.

Mission: Providing a loving, nurturing, and Christ-centered home for orphaned and neglected street children.

Background:

Uganda is home to approximately 2.4 million orphaned children. Uganda’s orphan crisis has worsened through the decades. Children in Uganda are orphaned or abandoned most often due to illness or poverty in their families, frequently a combination of both. Additionally, many children may have parents who are living with HIV. The death of a father has been a major contributing factor for orphan hood due to gender inequality and the lack of women’s rights.

As a child in Uganda, you are at risk of extreme poverty and have a high chance of contracting malaria and HIV, along with the looming danger of conflict. Children continue to be left to defend themselves against life’s harsh realities. With all the above the young children have also been affected by the prevailing Covid-19 effects of being abandoned, and lack of food that  has forced them to run to the streets.

HH Foundation is a ministry-run outreach lead by Annah and her team that have  reached out to the less privileged and the vulnerable street children by offering them a meal and medical help. 

It’s founder Annah is as a junior and youth pastor at Tower of Faith Church in Mbarara, and is also in charge of the young kids. Together with a group of ladies  she has been reaching out to the local prostitutes, single and abandoned mothers, and their children, to bring them to a new  relationship with Jesus Christ and the hope that he gives.  They intend to begin teaching them how to saw purses, handmade shoes, handmade bags, other hand crafts, tailoring and saloon so that the proceeds that come from the above initiatives, helps the former prostitutes earn a clean income so that they would not have to go back out into prostitution to survive. Income they earn can also help the orphans and abandoned children and the street kids to get food, accommodation and school fees. Healed Hearts Foundation intends to bring these street kids that are total orphans into a home where they can be taken good care of and raised to know Christ. It also look at equipping these kids with several skills like tailoring, carpentry, mechanics, welding and aid them discover their talents.

The response has been overwhelming.  Dozens of former prostitutes have been saved through Healed Hearts reaching out to them. Unfortunately, some of these ladies have died from the AIDS that they had contracted and left children behind that have run to the streets and need to be taken care of.  In Uganda’s society, however, these children are considered cursed, the seed of a whore, so even their grandparents and relatives refuse to take them in. These are the rejected of the rejected.

We intend to start with 20 street kids that need urgent assistance to be taken care of. These are the street kids that are total orphans and they need extra care to be able to see their tomorrow. Your prayers and financial support to us to build  a home for them  will give these orphaned street kids a hope for their lives. Healed Hearts wishes to take them in and care for them through providing shelter, and education, and food, and most of their holistic needs.  The number of children in need of help is more than 200 but Healed Hearts’ ability is still limited.

The story of this ministry began before it was registered as  Healed Hearts Foundation and it began by reaching out to the prostitutes.  Annah together with the team, began bringing them into the church, introduced them to the love of God with a dream to equipping them with skills to enable them earn a living without going back into sin. It also began as they would  feed the street kids once in a while  when they could.  Most sexually exploited women have been the cause for the high number of street kids as the children they leave behind are not welcome anywhere, not even their own relatives or grandparents.  With nowhere to go, they  are doomed to the horrors of the streets, child prostitution and crime, and ritual child sacrifice.  Healed Hearts took a step to stand in for them. This has been an act of faith, and we are thankful that we have continued to see the faithfulness of God in feeding these kids. Healed Hearts believes God for a humble home that can comfort these wounded souls.

It also hopes for funds  to cover their expenses – food, clothes, school, medicine, and all the other living expenses.  We also intend to provide for a couple of workers with some financial support to come and live with them and help raise them and care for them.  The only way we can meet these needs is through sponsorship from caring givers like you. We are working so hard to raise a new generation that honors God and will re-build their broken families and communities!!!
